Want to develop new acting skills or perfect your cherished improv abilities? We’ve got the event of the season for you!

The Cache Valley Improv Festival is held each year at the Academy Building owned by the Cache Theater Company:

At this years CVIF you will be able to…

  • Attend workshops and learn together with people from all over the community
  • Polish your basic and advanced improv and acting skills with The Antics as your guide
  • Perform in an exclusive audition-only show for your friends and family to enjoy (for FREE)
  • Get the chance to perform with a professional improv troupe, to put your new found skills to the test
  • Engage with your community by creating positive memories and make new friends along the way

We’re so excited to announce that we are opening up this years improv festival to not just the High School’s in our community, but to college students and adults/young adults alike! As of this year, there will be three different age groups for our workshops:

  • 10-13 years old
  • 14-17 years old
  • 18+ years old

See below for details on the workshops that will be taught this year along with information about our auditions for the exclusive and free CVIF show that will take place later that evening.

    Auditions

    • During the duration of our workshops, we will be holding auditions for those participants interested in performing with current members of The Antics! Sign up during the first hour of the festival. Throughout the afternoon, you will have a 10-15 minute audition in front of a panel made up of members of our production team (more specific details will be given during the welcome/registration portion of the event for auditions). You will then showcase your improv performance skills for a chance to perform in our CVIF show later that evening (more details to follow at the day of the event).
    • If you are selected to perform, you will be asked to attend rehearsal for the show after the workshops @6pm at the Coconut Cove and perform from 7:30pm-9:00pm.
    • If you are NOT selected to perform, you are still invited to attend the show after the festival that evening and invite your family and friends to attend. Although the event cost is $50.00 upon registration for the festival that day for all willing participants, the improv show that night is absolutely free, so come and support your new friends in a once in a lifetime performance for all ages to enjoy!

    2026 CVIF Workshops

    Scene Foundations

    • The foundations of improv are something to never be taken for granted and should be continually reviewed. In this workshop, we’ll learn simple, yet crucial improv basics, with an emphasis on how to successfully build scenes based on the foundations of CROW: (Character, Relationship, Objective, and Where).

    Character Creation

    • What goes into building a character? How often do actors spend weeks creating backgrounds, motivations, and more for a character they live in for a long period of time? Would you like to learn how to do it in 5 seconds or less? Join us for the training you’ve been seeking! We’ll give you the tools to build a quick, yet sustainable character such as voice, posture, objective, and much more master for any scene.

      Musical Improv

      • Ever wonder what it would be like to use music in improv? Come work with a skilled pianist and experienced musical improvisers to learn how to use your musical talents, partnered with wordplay and rhythm, to successfully boost and spice up improv scenes and games with the power of music!

        We’re so happy and eager to continue to do this event each and every year! We hope that you’ll take advantage of learning new improv theater skills, gain knowledge and confidence in our workshops, and create long lasting memories and friendships at the CVIF this year! We’ll see y’all there!
